HILLSBOROUGH RESIDENCE
Morning Room
How do you design a room when a client confesses she likes lots of "bling" and considers trim to be "room jewelry?" The approach: rich, luxurious fabrics with some trim and the addition of a single bold color. Her morning retreat/office and occasional guest rooms, includes an antique day bed. The day bed is dressed in textured gray linens and a coverlet of gray cotton velvet. Decorative pillows are indulged with a subtle seed pearl trim. Deep red silk taffeta covers the windows and a chair is upholstered in a bold print with the same red. An over-scaled mirror adds dimension and opulence. Two cast bronze floor lamps in the shape of trees bring both whimsy and elegance to the room.
